eduardo what are you learning at the university

"Eduardo, what are you learning at the university?" Duolingo. This isn't true of Spanish which would utilize the Simple Present tense instead. Since we are speaking with Eduardo directly, it is likely that he is not actually learning at the university at that very moment. So the English is in the Present Progressive tense but the Spanish is in the Simple Present.
